1. Brew 120 ml of strong coffee using your preferred method (French press, drip machine, or pour-over). Dark or medium-dark roasts work best for authentic French character.
2. While the coffee is brewing, gently heat 120 ml of milk on the stove or with a steam wand until hot and lightly steaming (60–70°C / 140–158°F). Do not create thick foam — only a thin layer of microfoam is needed.
3. Pour the hot coffee and steamed milk simultaneously into a large cup or bowl-style mug (traditionally a wide, shallow bowl is used in France).
4. Stir gently if desired. Serve immediately.
